The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) is a professional organization in Canada for those involved in land use planning. The Institute has over 6,300 members from across Canada.
Founded in 1919, its primary aim is "the advancement of responsible planning throughout Canada".
Membership includes a number of services including:
- a quarterly magazine entitled 'Plan Canada'
- annual awards for planning excellence
- annual national conference
- online information and services.
Great Places in Canada
Since 2001 the CIP has published an annual list of the best "places" in Canada in three categories, streets, neighbourhoods, and public spaces.
