History

Former logo

On July 28, 2008, Newcap applied to amend the licence by changing its frequency from 790 kHz to 840 kHz.[3] The application was approved;[4] however, the move was essentially voided when the station then at 830 kHz in Wainwright, Alberta was denied permission to move to FM.[5] The Wainwright station ultimately re-applied for—and got—permission to move to FM;[6] as a result, in spring 2015, CFCW began advertising a pending move to the 840 frequency. On August 1, 2015, CFCW officially moved from 790 AM to 840 AM with nighttime power reduced to 40,000 kW to protect the cross-continent clear-channel service of WHAS, in Louisville, KY.
