Kushinagar-Sarnath Expressway

Buddha Expressway or Kushinagar-Sarnath Expressway(Hindi:कुशीनगर सारनाथ एक्सप्रेसवे)(Urdu:کشی نگر سارناتھ ایکسپریس وے) is a proposed six lane access controlled expressway between Buddhist pilgrimage towns of Kushinagar and Sarnath near Varanasi in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. [1]The expressway is proposed by Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority under Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Etymology

The expressway is named after Buddha, founder of Buddhism. Kushinagar is the death place of Buddha and Sarnath is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists all over the world. Both places receive heavy tourists from East Asian and South East Asian countries.

Route

The expressway will start from bypass built in Kushinagar at National Highway 28 and will pass through Deoria district, Ballia district, Mau district and Ghazipur district and will end at Varanasi-Ghazipur Highway near Sarnath in Varanasi district.
