BoyleSports is the largest independent bookmaker in Ireland. Headquartered in Dundalk, County Louth, BoyleSports has 208 retail branches throughout the country. In addition to their retail stores, BoyleSports operates a telephone betting service, "Fon-A-Bet", an Internet-based betting service and a mobile betting app for smartphone users.

History

BoyleSports was established by John Boyle in 1982 when he opened his first betting shop in Market Hill in Newry, Northern Ireland.[1] The organisation had 77 shops by August 2004,[2] and opened their 100th store two years later.[3] BoyleSports now employs over 1,700 people and has 210 retail branches in Ireland.

In February 2011, BoyleSports took over 17 new shops from Celtic Bookmakers, saving 100 jobs, then later that year BoyleSports saved 65 jobs with a strategic takeover of 15 William Hill shops.[4]

BoyleSports' online product range includes Sports Betting, Virtual Betting, Poker, Casino, Games, Lotto and Bingo.

Sponsorship

Horse Racing

In November 2011, BoyleSports.com signed a major three-year sponsorship deal with Leopardstown racecourse. The new deal saw BoyleSports.com become the title sponsor for the opening day of the Leopardstown Festival, offering the potential of €150,000 worth of bonuses each year should any horse complete the Leopardstown and Cheltenham Festival double.

In 2014, BoyleSports became the headline sponsor for the Irish Grand National, held at Fairyhouse Racecourse each Easter Monday.

Also in 2014, BoyleSports became the headline sponsor for the Irish Greyhound Derby held in Shelbourne Park every September.

Other Irish sponsorships include the Boylesports.com Day at the Punchestown Festival, as well as a number of other greyhound sponsorships including the Coursing at Clonmel, Co Tipperary.

In 2014, BoyleSports and Irish national broadcaster RTE announced that BoyleSports would become the sponsor of the RTE Racing programmes across TV, radio and online. This was a two-year deal lasting up to the end of 2016.

In 2011 BoyleSports sponsored a Newmarket race meeting (July) in the UK, while from 2006 – 2009, BoyleSports were sponsors of the International Hurdle at Cheltenham.BoyleSports have been sponsors of the HWPA Awards Lunch and continue to support this event; with sponsorships from 2009.

Other major sponsorship deals included the BoyleSports Irish Guineas Festival at the Curragh, the BoyleSports Champion stakes at Shelbourne Park and the BoyleSports International at Dundalk Stadium.

Barclays Premier League

In May 2007 BoyleSports announced a four-year contract to sponsor Sunderland A.F.C. in the Premier League. This deal saw BoyleSports become Sunderland's official Betting and Gaming partner. BoyleSports also provided betting facilities throughout the Stadium of Light.

BoyleSports were the Official Online Gaming Partner of Premier League club Aston Villa F.C. for the 2008/09 season.

Irish Football

The Football Association of Ireland, which incorporates the Ireland national team and the League of Ireland announced BoyleSports as their Official Betting Partner from August 2008 – 2013.

Casino

BoyleCasino.com launched in 2007 offering Casino games like Blackjack, Roulette and Slot games.

In December 2011 the Casino switched providers from Wagerworks to Playtech. BoyleCasino now offer up to 150 games through their flash client with over 200 available on their Download version while they also publish the Return To Player percentage range of all their games.

The casino is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission for customers in Great Britain, and licensed by the Government of Gibraltar and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner for all other customers.

Poker

BoylePoker.com, as part of the BoyleSports brand, is a poker room which was founded in 2004.

From 2008 to date, BoylePoker.com have run Europe's largest live, no-limit, Texashold'em poker event, the Boylepoker IPO (International Poker Open). The IPO, which takes place yearly in Dublin has seen attendances of over 1,300 players. Well known professional poker stars such as Nicky Power and John O'Shea are among the attending players.

In April 2013 BoylePoker held their first IPO event outside Ireland in Aspers Casino, Stratford which generated a prize pool of £69,000. Michael "The Wizard" Wright outlasted the entire IPO London field to take home the top prize of £10,105.

BoylePoker have regular tournaments, live event satellites, competitions and token giveaways as well as blog updates from their sponsored pros.

Bingo

BoyleBingo.com has been in existence since 2005. BoyleBingo moved to the trusted Virtue Fusion Software in 2010 and is currently part of the large Virtue Fusion Network.

BoyleBingo offers many different bingo variations including: 90Ball, 75Ball, 80Ball as well as themed bingo rooms like Deal or No Deal and Britain’s Got Talent. There is also a wide range of slots, casino, scratchcard and number games available for players.The website is available in both EUR and GBP currencies.

BoyleBingo also operates a mobile bingo site.

Games

BoyleGames.com has been in operation since 2008 and is the online games division of BoyleSports.

BoyleGames offer online games including Blackjack, Roulette, Video Slots and Video Poker from a number of suppliers including Finsoft and Net Entertainment, Bet Soft and Microgaming.

In late 2012 BoyleGames launched their mobile gaming platform with traditional games including Blackjack, Roulette and also a number of online realistic slot games.

Lotteries

BoyleLotto.com is part of the BoyleSports brand, and launched a new-look website in June 2013.

BoyleLotto.com offers customers the opportunity to place bets on the outcomes of a number of national lotteries from a range of different countries including the Irish, UK, German, Spanish, Australian, Canadian, Greek, French, as well as the New York, Hong Kong, and Euromillions draws. Betting is also available for the 49's draws which take place twice daily.

Customers can place bets on up to five numbers.
