Boehmeria japonica (野线麻) is perennial subshrub or herb, native to Japan, Taiwan, and many regions of China. It grows to 0.7-1.5 m in height, with leaves that are dark green or black, suborbicular, orbicular-ovate, or ovate in shape, and usually 7-17 × 5.5-13 cm in size. It is used for making ropes and cloth, as agricultural fodder, and medicinally to relieve fever.
