Birmaharajpur College

Birmaharajpur College started in Birmaharajpur town, Odisha, India, in 1981.[1] The college came under the jurisdiction of Sambalpur University and started functioning in its initial years in Birmaharajpur High School. Then it was moved to the current location on 1983. The College area extends over nearly ten acres of land. The financial contribution of various panchayats within Birmaharajpur was significant in enabling the college to raise its infrastructure.

During its starting period the College had a strength of 128 students with only +2 Arts stream. Later B.A. Courses were started on year 1983-84. But because of the change of Government policy, +2 courses in the Arts and Science streams and +3 courses in the Arts stream were reintroduced with effect from 1983–84, 1988–89 and 1985–86 respectively by replacing the traditional I. A. and B.A. courses. Presently, the institute is affiliated to Sambalpur University.[2][3] Various Honors subjects viz Oriya, History, Political Science, Economics and Education are being offered by this college.[4]
