Biography

Johnson is a fifth-generation pastor.[4] His father, M. Earl Johnson had been senior pastor at Bethel Church, then an Assemblies of God church, in Redding from 1968 to 1982. Bill Johnson met his future wife Beni at Bethel in 1969.[5] They served as pastors of Mountain Chapel in Weaverville, California from 1978 to 1996.[1] In 1987, seeking a revival of healing, he attended a conference with John Wimber.[1] He received further inspiration when attending the Toronto Blessing revival in 1995. Bill and Beni Johnson returned to Bethel Church in Redding as pastors in February 1996. In 1998,[6] they started the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry to "train up a generation that walks in 'revival culture'".[7]
