Big Brother was an Indonesian version of the Big Brother reality television show based on the Dutch television series of the same name originally created in 1997 by John de Mol's company Endemol.[1] The show is based on a group of strangers, known as Housemates, living together twenty-four hours a day in the "Big Brother" house, isolated from the outside world but under constant surveillance with no privacy for five months more.

The Housemates compete for the chance to win a luxury house, a luxury car and the grand prize (billion rupiahs) by avoiding weekly eviction, until the last Housemates remains at the end of the season that can claim the grand prize.

The Indonesian series was hosted by television personality Sarah Sechan and Indra Herlambang and airing on Trans TV six times a week.

There were plans for a celebrity version to air in 2012.

Despite the success of the first Indonesian Series of Big Brother, it has been revealed that Big Brother will no longer be shown in Indonesia due to budget cuts, but it may return at some point in the future.
