Bharat Biotech is an Indian Biotechnology company, headquartered in Hyderabad, India. The company was founded by Indian scientist, Krishna Ella.[1] Bharat Biotech has one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing plants of its kind in Asia-Pacific.[2]

It is the first bio-pharma facility in the country to be audited and approved by Korean Food & Drugs Administration (KFDA) at Genome Valley, Hyderabad.

The company reported in early February 2016 that it had made vaccines for Zika virus and were the first company to do so. The company claimed that it had two vaccine candidates, one live and other a recombinant type. It also had filed a global patent in June 2015 for its vaccine that is to be called as the Zikavac. [3]

It landed into controversy after it was accused of importing live virus without proper government approval.
