Ben Crooks (born 15 June 1993) is an English professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for Leigh, on loan from, the Castleford Tigers in the Super League. He previously played for Hull F.C.. He is the son of Hull legend Lee Crooks and the nephew of another Hull Legend, Steve "Knocker" Norton. His position is Centre.
Club career
Career at Hull FC (2012–2014)
He made his Hull FC and Super League debut on 22 April 2012 in a 56-12 loss to Wigan. He enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2013, creating a deadly try scoring combination with winger Tom Lineham which led to his selection in the Super League Dream Team, and at the end of the season he was named Super League's Young Player of the Year. Crooks struggled to recapture his form in 2014, making only 12 first-team appearances for Hull and spending time on loan at Doncaster.
Career at Parramatta Eels (2015)
Crooks signed a 2-year deal with NRL side Parramatta Eels in September 2014 but left after a year to go back to play in England.[1]
Return to the Super League:Career at Castleford (2016-present)
After the deal with the Parramatta Eels turned out to be a failure, as a result Crooks mainly played for the reserve grade NSW Cup team Wentworthville Magpies, Crooks returned to the Super League in 2016 and signed a three-year deal with the Castleford Tigers. Although he didn't manage to play in the NRL he shared his belief saying that "I believe I have achieved my goals in my career development and will return to Super League a better player for the experience."[2]
