Important Facts / Statistics

History

BCS has a rich history of serving Christian families in the City of Calgary. The development of the school, over the past decade, has been led by the active involvement of families and friends who understand the unique benefits and value of a Christian education. Founded in 1979 as the Heritage Christian School Society, which had previously functioned as Foothills Christian Academy, Heritage Christian School grew to become a system of three separate campuses. A group of parents had a vision for building a new, unified school facility on 39 acres of land the Society owned just outside the city of Calgary. A Development Committee was created and they began to share their vision with parents, staff and friends of the schools. In 1998, Bearspaw Christian School was established through the merger of the Central and West campuses. Parents, staff and friends of BCS formed an investor group with pooled resources of $1.6 million. An empty pasture, set amongst rolling hills, was transformed into a modern 28,000 square foot facility for 350 young people in Kindergarten to Grade 12.
