Bayside Council is a local government area located in the Botany Bay or inner south-eastern region of Sydney, located approximately 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) south of the CBD[1] in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The Council was formed on 9 September 2016 from the merger of the Botany Bay and the Rockdale councils.[2]

The Council comprises an area of 50 square kilometres (19 sq mi) and at the time of its establishment had an estimated population of 152,814.[2]

The Administrator of Bayside Council is Greg Wright, until the elections for councillors to take place on 9 September 2017.

Once elected, Bayside Council will comprise fifteen Councillors elected proportionally, with three Councillors elected in each of the following five wards:[3]

All Councillors are expected to be elected for a fixed four-year term of office with effect from 9 September 2017.[2]
