Bascantis is a genus of moths belonging to the family Tineidae.[2] It contains only one species, Bascantis sirenica, which is found in New Zealand.

The head and thorax are deep purple. The forewings are elongate and deep purple with a semioval ochreous-white spot on the middle of the costa. The hindwings are dark bronzy-fuscous, but lighter anteriorly.[3]
