Barbara Vernon (writer)

Barbara Vernon (1916-1978) was an Australian writer. Her plays include The Multi-Coloured Umbrella.[1]

Life

Vernon was born in 1916. Both she and her parents were born in Australia. She started to write plays because she was involved with amateur drama and they could not afford to pay for the copyright of plays.[1]

Her second professionally performed play was "The Multi-Coloured Umbrella" and this was the first Australian play broadcast by Australian television.[1]
