Baloda Bazar city is a nagar palika parishad in Baloda Bazar district in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. PIN 493332.It is recently declared as a District. Baloda Bazaar is also called Cement hub of Chhattisgarh because there are many reputed Cement Plant.Ultra Tech Cement Hirmi, Grasim Cement Rawan, Ambuja Cement Rawan & Lafarge Cement Sonadih etc, Current MLA ( 2013 - 2018 ) of Baloda Bazar is Shri Janak Ram Verma. The great Chef विजय शर्मा birth palace is baloda bazar.

Geography

Baloda Bazar is located at 30°40′N 82°10′E / 30.67°N 82.17°E / 30.67; 82.17.[1] It has an average elevation of 254 m (833 ft). There are several Tourist place in Balodabazaar like Sirpur, Turturia, Giroudpuri, Siddheswr Mandir Pallari and many more.

Education

The town has two Government run colleges,one polytechnic colleges, a Government run High School and over 50 private educational institutions.Some of the prominent schools are Ambuja Vidya Peeth, Gurukul English Medium School, Sacred Heart Convent School, Aditya Birla Public School etc.There are no Engineering colleges at present. Government Pandit Chakrapani Shukla Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Formally known as Govt. High School was the main high school of the region established in the year 1948.It was inaugurated by Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla.

Demographics

As of the 2008 India census,[2] Baloda Bazar had a population of 27,853. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Baloda Bazar has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 57% of the males and 43% of females literate. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age. It is 84 km from Raipur, 75 km from Mahasamund via Samoda & 60 km from Bilaspur. Total area is about sq. 16 km. The main occupation of the people is agriculture and service in cement factories. It is a good source of cement. Basic facilities like schools, electricity, water, and hospitals are easily available here. The educational institutions are of basic level(Up to graduation). For higher studies, a student has to go outside because there is no engineering & politechnique college. Baloda Bazar has been a centre for education for the neighbouring areas for many decades.A number of private institutions have come up now for the primary education and one Law college is also running since many years. There is a famous temple of "Lord Shiva". Which is located in front of Bus-Stand.

History

This town was very famous for its cattle market in the region. The market still exists with name "Bhaisa Pasra". Purani Basti or the area adjoining the Mawli Mata Mandir is the oldest area of the town. Veer Narayan Singh freedom fighter is also from Baloda Bazar.Some of the great personalities from Baloda Bazar are Late Dr. Saheb Lal Tiwari, Late Shri Chakrapani Shukla, Late Shri Bansh Raj Tiwari, Late Shri Ganesh Shankar Bajpai etc.
