Babu Singh Kushwaha is an Indian politician from the Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh. He was one of Mayawati's most trusted "backroom boys",[1] and a senior member of the UP cabinet.

On April 7, 2011, he was forced to resign[2] after being implicated in the murder of two Chief Medical officers BP Singh and VK Arya.[3] Both were shot dead by two assassins on motorcycles, in central Lucknow, in broad daylight. The same gun had been used in both cases.[4] It was alleged that their honesty was coming in the way of a political mafia who were skimming off large sums from the Health services.[3]

He had held the portfolio of Family Welfare and mining Department before resigning.

He joined BJP in presence of senior leaders Vinay Katiyar and Surya Pratap Shahi but Kushwaha’s induction resulted in voices of dissent in the party after which he wrote a letter to the BJP national president Nitin Gadkari requesting him to suspend his membership till proven innocent.
