Baadshaho (English: Friends) is an upcoming Indian action thriller film written by Rajat Arora, directed and co-produced by Milan Luthria. It features Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Ileana D'Cruz and Vidyut Jammwal in the lead roles.

The production of the film began in January 2015 and principal photography commenced in August 2016 in Mumbai. Ankit Tiwari composes the film's score and soundtrack. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 12 May 2017.

Development

In January 2015, Ajay Devgan signed Milan Luthria's Baadshaho marking his fourth collaboration with the director after Kachche Dhaage (1999), Chori Chori (2003) and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai (2010).[1] Luthria stated that besides directing he is also co-producing the film along with Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and further revealed that the film is a thriller set in the emergency era of the 1970's.[2] Ankit Tiwari was roped in as music director.[3]

Casting

Names like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra were speculated as the lead actress opposite Ajay Devgn.[4][5][6] Later in June 2016, actors Emraan Hashmi, Vidyut Jammwal, Ileana D'Cruz and Esha Gupta were officially confirmed to be in the cast.[7][8] In August 2016, Sunny Leone was signed in for special appearance in a song.[9]

Filming

Principal photography was commenced on 23 August 2016 in Mumbai.[10] The second schedule was started on 1 December 2016 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.[11][12]

Release

The makers earlier announced their worldwide release as 26 January 2017. But later upon the request from producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Rakesh Roshan of the films Raees and Kaabil respectively, Bhushan Kumar moved the worldwide release date to 12 May 2017.[13]
