B2M Entertainment (Hangul: B2M 엔터테인먼트) is a South Korean management agency and music label founded in 2010 by Gil Jong-hwa based in Seoul, South Korea.

History

B2M Entertainment was originally found as Gil Entertainment. The company changed its name to B2M Entertainment right after Lee Hyori joined in. The company was found in 2010 by Gil Jong-hwa, who formerly worked for DSP Media, handling the management of several artists including Sechs Kies, Fin.K.L, SS501 and Kara.[2]

Kpop superstar Lee Hyori left Mnet Media in early 2010 and joined B2M Entertainment to work with Gil Jong-hwa who had been Fin.K.L's co-manager and had worked with the group since its debut. Heo Young-Saeng and Kim Kyu-Jong from the successful boy group SS501 left DSP Media upon expiration of their contract and joined B2M Entertainment in the same year.

Spica was formed by B2M Entertainment in January 2012, consisting of 5 members: Kim Bo-A (leader, main vocal), Kim Bo-Hyung (lead vocal), Park Si-Hyun (rapper, sub vocal), Park Na-Rae (vocal, visual), and Ji-Won (vocal, visual). On January 31, 2012, B2M Entertainment officially announced that the group would have their formal debut with a mini-album, titled Russian Roulette. A music video teaser for "Russian Roulette" was released the following day. The full-length music video was released on February 7, 2012.

Eric Nam joined B2M Entertainment in September 2012 after finishing in the Top 5 on Korean TV show 'Star Audition: Birth of a Great Star - Season 2'. B2M Entertainment has said before about their young rookie artist, “We plan to fully support Eric Nam’s growth as a musician as he goes on to challenge himself in various fields of music.”[3] On January 23, 2013 the official music video of "Heaven's Door" was released alongside his mini-album entitled Cloud 9, marking his official debut.

September 2014, B2M Entertainment announced to debut Spica's first sub-unit group "Spica.S" (Spica Special), consisting of 4 members: Park Si-Hyun, Park Narae, Yang Jiwon, and Kim Bohyung. Also, Kim Boa to debut as a solo artist.[4] Following this, Nicole Jung joined B2M Entertainment eight months after her contract with DSP Media expired.[5][6] Jung's solo debut album, First Romance was released on November 19, 2014.[7]

In February 2015, it was reported that Lee Hyori's contract with B2M Entertainment last August 2013. Gil Jong Hwa told Newsen, "I don′t think the phrase, ′free agent declaration is correct." The CEO added, "It′s been a while since the contract ended and Lee Hyori has been doing her personal activities. We′ve just helped support her." "The word ′contract′ does not match with Lee Hyori. Even when she was with B2M Entertainment, she didn′t take a signing bonus. I hope no misunderstandings rise from this."

An affiliate of Lee Hyori also stated, "After her contract with B2M Entertainment ended, Lee Hyori′s only working through close acquaintances. She′s currently not looking for a new agency or thinking of working with management." "The meanings of free agent declaration and free agent advancement are different. I believe she will continue where she is now for the time being." Lee and Gil remained close and supported each other in the business.[8]

After military service, Heo Young Saeng decided to sign a contract under CI Ent and left B2M Ent in 2015.[9]

In July 2015, B2M Entertainment joined strategic partnership with CJ E&M, where B2M Entertainment would be focus to producing music and CJ E&M focus to marketing. B2M Entertainment's artists like Eric Nam and Spica moved to CJ E&M after their contract expired, but B2M still producing music for them. As of December 2015, B2M Entertainment current producing CJ E&M artists such like SG Wannabe, Davichi, Eric Nam and Spica from CJ E&M

In 2016, Due to contract expiration Kim Kyu Jong also left B2M Ent and joined CI Ent.
