Major General (United States) Austin S. Miller is a senior officer in the United States Army and current commander of the Joint Special Operations Command. He has participated in numerous combat operations, such as; Battle of Mogadishu 1993, and since 2001 the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Military career

Miller graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1983. Upon his graduation from West Point, Miller was commissioned an infantry officer. After completing Ranger School, he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, as a platoon leader and afterwords in various command posts in the 75th Ranger Regiment, the 2nd Infantry Division and in the Special Operations Command. Later on he served as a company commander in Delta force and fought in the Battle of Mogadishu. Afterwords he commanded the Delta force during the Iraq War and was the head of special operations during the War in Afghanistan.In 2014 became commanding general of the United States Army Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning. Since 2016 he is the commanding general of the Joint Special Operations Command.[1]
