Audubon Quartet

Audubon Quartet was a string quartet based in Winchester, Virginia. Its members included cellist and founder C. Tom Shaw, violist Doris Lederer, and violinists Ellen Jewett and Akemi Takayama. The quartet was formerly the resident quartet of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and subsequently served as quartet in residence at the Shenandoah Conservatory Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.[1]

The Audubon Quartet disbanded in 2011.[2]

The Audubon Quartet has enjoyed international recognition including top prizes at:

They were the first American string quartet ever to win a first prize in an international string quartet competition.
