Atul Khatri (pseudonym: Horny Sindhi) is one of India's most successful Standup Comedians and YouTube personality. Khatri was rated among the top Indian comedians by CNN-IBN and was the only Indian to perform in the Hong Kong International Comedy Festival (Sep 2014).[1][2][3] He is also the winner of the "CEO's Got Talent" award by FremantleMedia.[4][5][6]

Early life & education

Atul Khatri was born in Mumbai in 1968. He attended the St. Theresa’s Boys High School till secondary education and later obtained Bachelor of Engineering degree from University of Mumbai. Khatri also attained Certificate in Business Administration from the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester in Manchester, England.[7] After completing his education, he joined his family run computer business (Kaytek Computer Services Private Limited) and assumed the post of Chief executive officer.[7][8] At the age of 43, Khatri became a comedian whilst still being engaged in his business.[9]

Career

Atul Khatri in 2011, owing to monotony and after being encouraged by his wife to do so, wanted to have an alternate career. He initially wanted to take up courses and become a bartender and then later a Disc jockey but did not pursue either fields. Khatri started his career as a comedian by posting jokes (as comic relief) on Facebook and later became a standup comedian. He became notable after winning the "CEO's Got Talent" award by FremantleMedia. Khatri has done over 400 comedy shows, television advertisement and Youtube videos.[9] Khatri was also one of the 3 finalists at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival held in Delhi in 2012.[6][10]

Atul also performs at The Comedy Store, The Canvas Laugh Factory and with East India Comedy. He also performed in San Francisco for a fundraiser organized by American India Foundation.[11]

East India Comedy

Atul Khatri joined the company East India Comedy which was founded by Sorabh Pant in 2012 and is one of the busiest comedy companies in India.[10][12]

Commercials

Atul Khatri has featured in television advertisements of Amazon.com, Muthoot Finance, Rebtel, Aegon Religare Insurance and Matrix SIM card.[11]
