The first game in the Atlantic Division of the 2012–13 season began on Friday, November 2, 2012, when the Summerside Storm hosted the Saint John Mill Rats. Unlike the Central Division, the Atlantic teams for the majority for the season were at neck and neck for the division title until Summerside begin to pull ahead of the other teams with a 6-game winning streak.[1] The Storm won the first Atlantic Division title with a 26-14 record.[2]

2013-14

Following the 2012-13 season, the Montreal Jazz switched divisions from Central to Atlantic but before the season started, the NBL Board of Governors announced that the Montreal Jazz would sit out the 2013-14 NBL Canada season after failing to secure new ownership. The Saint John won their first Atlantic Division title with a 23-17 record.[3]

2014-15

The Montreal Jazz officially folded before the season began leaving the Atlantic Division at four teams. The Halifax Rainmen won their first Atlantic Division title with a 20-12 record.

2015-16

The Halifax Rainmen folded and were replaced with the Halifax Hurricanes. The number of teams in the division remained at four.

2016-17

The Cape Breton Highlanders joined the league, increasing the number of teams in the division to five. The Saint John Mill Rats were renamed to the Saint John Riptide.
