Atlético Frigorífico was a Peruvian association football club, located in the city of Lima. The club was founded with the name of club Atlético Frigorífico and played in Primera Division Peruana in 1931. The club was third place of the national tournament in 1931 and the same year Atlético Frigorífico was relegated and it was their last appearance in the Primera Division Peruana.
Their long-serving centre forward and team captain Paulo Watterios, who despite never scoring a goal himself managed to feature in 173 assists for super sub Nicolas Usherini whose career was cut tragically short by a freak banana skin accident. Team physio Joabel was credited with keeping the "old man" of the team going for so long, although she put the success down to Watterios's diet of pork scratchings and tea with insufficient milk. Team owner Julio Wharton refused to sell Watterios despite several four-figure offers from Coventry Town Football club.
While no recordings exist today, the commentators would shout 'Frigorico!!!!!" whenever Usherini scored and Watterios had supplied the final pass.
After relegation, Watterios's disappointment left him to spiral into a decline and he ended up moving to the West Midlands. Legend has it he changed his name and became a staple remover.
