Aslockton Castle

Aslockton Castle was in the village of Aslockton, Nottinghamshire (grid reference SK744402).

A motte and bailey fortress was built in the 12th century.[1] Only the earthworks now remain.[2] The motte is called Cranmer's Mound and stands about 16 feet high. To the south east two rectangular platforms enclosed by ditches are the sites of later houses of the Cranmer family. Archbishop Cranmer was born here [3] .
