Arth 2 is an upcoming Pakistan romantic-drama film directed and written by Shaan Shahid. The film stars Shaan Shahid himself, Mohib Mirza, Humaima Malik and Uzma Hassan in lead roles. It is a join-production of HKC Entertainment, Ali Murtaza's AAA Motion Pictures and Shaan Shahid's 5th Element. The film is a remake of Mahesh Bhatt's 1982 film Arth.[2][3]

Development

On November 23, 2013 an MoU was signed between ARY Films and Riaz Shahid Films, subjecting a joint production venture between two banners for 5 films which included Arth 2. Shaan along with direction also write film's screenplay. Sahir Ali Bagga roped in for the music of film, while Waar’s director of photography, Luke Rocheleau to be the DOP here too.[2] Mahesh Bhatt commented on remake as "Shaan sahib is remaking a film that I started my career with, and that makes me very happy. I am very keen to see how he will interpret it. Every filmmaker has his own worldview, and he has complete freedom to reinterpret it however he wishes."[5]

Filming & casting

The cast of film was announced in November 2013. Earlier Humayun Saeed was casted as lead in film but due to certain factor later in December 2015, Mohib Mirza was reprised for role.[6] Film shooting began on December 1, 2015 in Lahore[7] on an occasion where director celebrated his 25 years working in Pakistani cinema. The actress Neelo performed film slate's fist clap.[8] A source close to Shaan Shahid confirmed to HIP Website that the main cast are heading to London for 10–12 days for the final leg of the film's shooting, later the film will enter editing and grading stage at end of August 2016.[9]

Post Production

Shaan confirmed to Entertainment Website HIP Pakistan that the film's post production will be done at Pinewood Studios in London. The film along with his other film Zarrar will be first two Pakistani films to have their Post Productions done in a British Film Studio.[10]

Marketing

The first look of film; character posters and cast was revealed on May 26, 2014.[11][12]

Release

The film will be released in 2017.
