Maria Beatrix of Austria-Este (German: Maria Beatrix Anna Franziska, Erzherzogin von Österreich-Este, Prinzessin von Modena[1][2]) (13 February 1824 18 March 1906) was a member of the House of Austria-Este and Archduchess and Princess of Austria, Princess of Hungary, Bohemia, and Modena by birth.

She was born in Modena, Duchy of Modena and Reggio,[1][2] the daughter of Francis IV of Modena and his niece, Beatrix II of Modena. Through her marriage to Juan, Count of Montizón, Maria Beatrix was also a member of the Spanish branch of the House of Bourbon. Juan was the Carlist claimant to the throne of Spain from 1860 to 1868, and the Legitimist claimant to the throne of France from 1883 to 1887. Maria Beatrix was the fourth and youngest child[1][2] of Francis IV, Duke of Modena and his wife Maria Beatrice of Savoy.[1][2]

Marriage and issue

Maria Beatrix married Juan, Count of Montizón, second eldest son of Infante Carlos, Count of Molina and his first wife Infanta Maria Francisca of Portugal, on 6 February 1847 in Modena.[1][2] Maria Beatrix and Juan had two children:[1][2]

Maria Beatrix died in Graz, Styria, Austria–Hungary,[1][2] aged 82.
