Employee Backlash

A seven-day strike, costing Allina an estimated 20.4 million dollars, took place in June 2016. Nearly 5,000 nurses represented by Minnesota Nurses Association and from five Allina Health hospitals in the Minneapolis metropolitan area participated in a week-long strike, picketing the hospitals in an objection to issues surrounding workplace safety, employment staffing and health benefits.[1] Dissatisfied with the minimal impact the nurses feel they had after the first strike, they voted on the authorization of an additional, "indefinite" strike on 18 August 2016. Policy states that a company must receive a 10-day notice in the event of a strike.[2]
