Allelengyon

Allelengyon was a tax imposed by the Byzantine Emperor Basil II on the wealthiest landowners of abandoned and uncultivated land. Allegyon provided a constant and high income to the treasury. Romanos III Argyros lifted him preferring the interests of the social group from which they descended, the interests of the empire.
