Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital

Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital (Al Jalila Children's) is a children's hospital ordered to be built by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as a gift to the children of the UAE to celebrate his daughter Al Jalila’s first birthday on Tuesday 2 December 2008. The first phase is to be opened in 2013.

The hospital will be located in Dubai and will have 200 beds and will also include a pediatric trauma centre, heart centre, transplant unit, surgical departments, outpatient clinics, dialysis unit and oncology care, news agency WAM reported.

The hospital was designed by Italian architectural firm Studio Altieri International. The contractor assigned for fencing, shoring excavation and piling was A.P.C.C., and the contractor for construction of the facility itself for the contract period of October 2011 – February 2014 was Al-Futtaim Carillion LLC.^[1]

Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital was designed to be a ‘smart hospital’ that integrates IT and design features to create a positive and entertaining environment for patients and families.^[2]

Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital is a teaching and research hospital, which features a 375-seat auditorium in addition to several education and training rooms.
