Akahon

Akahon can refer to early kusazōshi that were produced during the latter seventeenth and early eighteenth century in Japan. They cover a wide variety of topics, and were often read by children. The meaning of akahon is red book.

It can also refer to cheaply printed books aimed at children from the Meiji period through the postwar era, during which time the term most was most often used to refer to comic books.
