Ajnabi

Ajnabi was a classic drama TV series, which was broadcast on Doordarshan's now defunct DD Metro channel, in the 90s. The show’s story and screenplay was by acclaimed actor Danny Denzongpa. It was directed by Ugyen Chopel[1] and produced by Romesh Sharma.

The show was loosely based on Nepalese film Saino, written by Danny, directed by his nephew Ugyen, who also directed Ajnabi TV series. The show had 75 episodes.[2]

The cast of Ajnabi comprised Danny Denzongpa, Parikshat Sahni, Annu Kapoor, Tinnu Anand and Goga Kapoor, Deepshikha,[3] Jeet Upendra, Sooraj Thapar and others. The title song of the show was very popular as well.

Danny played an ex army man, who retires in Jammu & Kashmir. The series showed the insurgency and terrorism afflicted state, the valor of armed forces and the emotional lives of everyone affected by the insurgency.[4]
