Ajit currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Viacom 18 Motion Pictures (VMP), the motion pictures business of Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd, recognised as a leading studio for producing path breaking films. ^[1][2]

He is known for his vision for content led cinema with a differentiated script garnering critical acclaim and box office success. He broke new ground with feature films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Queen, Mary Kom, Drishyam & Manjhi. ^[3][4][5] Films like Queen & Mary Kom led solely by female characters went on to win National awards.^[6] He has picked up another female character driven film PhotoCopy, a Marathi romcom of identical twin sisters, slated to be released in 2016.^[7]
