Ahalya (Tamil: அகல்யா) is an Tamil soap opera that aired on Sun TV. The show premiered on 3 May 2004 and aired Monday through Friday at 11:30AM IST. The show starring by Manjari, Shyam Ganesh / Sakthi Kumar, Abser, Dhivyadharshini, Snegha, Sindhu, Shanmugasundari, Lakshmi Priya and Sanjeev.[1]

The plot of this series would revolve around the female lead and this role was taken up by the famous TV actress, Manjari. The male lead roles were casted by Shyam Ganesh and Abser. The show producer by SAN Media Limited [2] and directed by K. Rajeev Prasad and R.Balaji Yadav M.A . with Vinayaga, Stalin, Jaya Murugan and Ramesh were the assistant directors of this series. It had been receiving the highest ratings of Tamil serials and received high praising from viewers. The show last aired on 22 September 2006 and ended with 616 episodes. It was also aired in Sri Lanka Tamil Channel on Shakthi TV.[3]

Plot

The story of pure friendship between a young man and woman, the serial promises to be very different from the fare that you've watched so far. (Manjari) plays the role of Ahalya, while (Abser) acts as her friend, Siva. Ahalya gets married to Siva's brother Kadhir (Shyam Ganesh) and sincerely wishes to be a loving wife, a dutiful daughter in law and a true friend of Siva. But problems arise because her friendship is misunderstood by every one in the family. The problems and the final solution are what "Ahalya" is all about.[4]
