The Africa Cup is an annual rugby union tournament involving African nations, organised by Rugby Africa. The tournament was first held in 2000, and has since been contested on an annual basis. Prior to being renamed the Africa Cup in 2006, the tournament was known as the CAR Top 9 and CAR Top 10.

Current Nations

There will be 23 nations playing in the 2016 Africa Cup. They are split into several divisions. The highest division is called Division 1A and the winner of this division will be crowned Africa Cup champions. The other divisions are Division 1B, Division 1C and Division 2 (Centre and West). The highest placed team in each division (except Division 1A) will be promoted and the last-placed team in each division will be relegated.
