Adesh Gupta

Adesh Gupta (Born 27 June 1960, Karnal) is the present Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Shoes, one of India’s biggest Footwear companies since 2003. Liberty was established in the year 1954 by Shri P.D. Gupta, Shri D.P. Gupta and Shri R.K. Bansal and further consolidated and expanded by the later generations of the family. He is also the Chairman of Liberty Infotech and Sunfest Infratech & Power Ltd.

Early life and education

Adesh Gupta is a Mechanical Engineer (1977–82) from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (Haryana).

Career

Adesh specialized in Polyurethane (PU) Applications in Footwear and he pioneered the application of PU technology for the first time in India in 1983 and helped make Liberty a leader in Domestic Market.[1]

Adesh learned the tricks of trade from his father, the late Shri P.D. Gupta. His close proximity with the best shoe companies across the world, extensive travel, and in-depth research and analysis in footwear and business technologies has helped him choose and implement the best practices in his own business. To meet the burgeoning industrial requirements, Adesh has also put into place a road map for Liberty’s success in the international markets and aggressively marketed the brand.[2]

Adesh has changed the company into a multi-product conglomerate with interests in Retailing, Infotech, Whiteware, Technology, Chemicals and Real Estate. Adesh Gupta has acted as Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (Northern Region).[3] He has headed the Footwear Design and Development Institute (2005–08) as Chairman under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.[4] He heads a number of Professional as well as Govt. Bodies related to Footwear Industry in various capacities. He is also actively involved in a number of religious and social organizations to contribute towards his organization's Corporate Social Responsibility.

Personal life

Adesh married Punam Gupta in the year 1983. He has three daughters, Ashna, Vidhi and Punkhuri.
