Adel Gafaiti (born 16 July 1994) is an Algerian footballer who plays for MC Oran. He plays primarily as a centre-back.

Early career

Rangers

Gafaiti began his career in the youth team at Nancy before joining Rangers in 2011, for whom he also played youth team football. However, only one season at Rangers, Gafaiti was among nine players to be released upon their contract was coming to an end in the summer. It believed it was the ongoing process of the club's administration as its main factor.[2][3]

Norwich City

During summer 2012, Gafaiti moved to Premier League side Norwich City from Rangers.[4] He made 24 appearances for the Norwich City U-21 side. On 1 July 2013, he was called up to the Norwich City senior squad but so far has made no appearances.[5] Despite not making first team appearance, Gafaiti was linked a move away from Norwich City, as clubs from Europe were keen to sign him.[6]

During the January 2014 transfer window, Gafaiti moved to Football League One side Oldham Athletic joining on a season long loan.[7] He made his debut on 22 March 2014 on a 1-0 home victory against Crawley Town, coming on in added time.[8] Only just making one appearance, it announced on 22 April that Gafaiti returned to his parent club.[9] After returning to his parent club, Gafaiti signed a two-year contract with the club.[10] Gafaiti continued to be in the club's development until his release at the end of the 2015-16 season.[11]

MC Oran

After leaving Norwich City, Gafaiti returned to Algeria, signing for MC Oran.[12] Upon joining MC Oran, Gafaiti said he reflected his time in Scotland and England before returning to Algeria.[13]

International career

Gafaiti has chosen to represent Algeria at international level, and has been capped at the under-20 level.[14][15]
