Acanthopleuribacter is a genus in the phylum Acidobacteria (bacteria).[1]

Etymology

The etymology of the genus is: N.L. n. Acanthopleura, a genus of shellfish; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Acanthopleuribacter, a rod from Acanthopleura, referring to the isolation of the first strain from the chiton Acanthopleura japonica.[2] The genus contains a single species[2] namely A. pedis ( Fukunaga et al. 2008, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).; L. gen. n. pedis, of the foot, referring to the isolation of the type strain from the foot of a chiton.)[3]
