Abhijeet Sharadchandra Gholap (Born: 1 Jan 1972), often referred to as Abhi, is a National Award winning Indian film producer and distributor.[1][2][3] He is known for Marathi films such as Deool (The Temple),[4] Bhartiya (An Indian),[5][6] produced under the banner of his production house ‘Devisha Films’ [7] and distributed films like Sat Na Gat [8] Hou de Jara Sa Ushir, Maat [9] and Headline.[10] He is also well known for his healthcare and life science technology venture Optra Group of Companies.[11][12][13][14]

Personal Life and Career

Abhi is born in Mumbai and is alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay with specialization in Biomedical Engineering. Abhi married to Dr. Gauri Naik, a biotechnologist, in 1996. Their elder daughter, Devika, is pursuing her BioMedical engineering at Boston University and younger daughter, Eesha is in Monta Vista High School, California.

Abhi founded Optra Group of companies and Devisha Films in 2010. Prior to founding Optra Group of companies, he was the founder of BioImagene[15] which was later acquired by Roche Diagnostics. Previously, Abhi was employed by TCS, Cedartech, and Siemens Medical Systems. Abhi has over 13 international patents. He is a Charter Member of TiE Silicon Valley and chairs Digital Healthcare SIG and medical advisory member at Frost & Sullivan.[16]

In 2015, in memory of his beloved late parents, Abhi founded "Jiji-Bhau Cancer Foundation" with an aim to help leukemia patients financially, medically and emotionally. Presently Jiji-Bhau foundation is helping several leukemia patients in Pune, Dhule, Satara, Baramati, Nasik, Malegaon districts of Maharashtra, India.

Abhi Gholap is also a co-author of several scientific publications in the life sciences, including "Content-Based Tissue Image Mining" published in IEEE Computer Society and "Semi-automated imaging system to quantitate Her-2/neu membrane receptor immunoreactivity in human breast cancer" Journal of the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry.
