80s Nostalgia

80s Nostalgia corresponds to a trend in contemporary American popular culture for idealization of the 1980s decade and revival of its musical genres, fashion styles, politics or screenwriting. According to some journalists, such a trend has been present for a long time but became massive in the year 2016, as evidenced by the popularity of television shows like Stranger Things or the musical genres synthwave and synthpop.[1] The New York Times notes a revival of 80s fashion in 2016 haute couture, and views the politician Donald Trump as an incarnation of the "excess" characteristic of this era.[2]
