The 2012 season is the 58th season of Pakistan domestic football and the 9th season of the Pakistan Premier League, and started on 5 September 2012 under the auspices of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). The season ended on the 15 January 2013.

KRL F.C. won their second championship on the trot with thanks to goals from Pakistani international Kalim Ullah whose goals propelled them to the top. As winners KRL F.C. took the prize of Rs 700,000. Second placed KESC F.C. took Rs 500,00 and Chaman based Muslim F.C took Rs 400,000 for finishing third.

ZTBL were awarded the Fair-Play trophy and Rs 100,000. Muslim F.C. captain was awarded as player of the season for helping them finishing the season in third place and was given a prize of Rs 150,000.

For his 23 goals Kalim Ullah (KRL F.C.) was given the top scorer award and Rs 100,000, and the best goalkeeper went to Jaffar Khan (Pakistan Army F.C.) who also got Rs 100,000. Rs100,000 each went to the best referee Arshad Ul Haq and the best match commissioner Abdul Shakoor. The best assistant referee Adnan Anjum received Rs50,000. PMC Athletico and Wohaib F.C. were both relegated.

Format

Teams play each other on a home and away basis

The winners will represent Pakistan at the 2013 AFC President's Cup. The bottom two teams will be relegated to the Pakistan Football Federation League.

Teams

Pakistan Police and PEL were relegated at the end of the 2011 campaign and were replaced by Wohaib F.C. and ZTBL F.C.

The Navy F.C. on the other hand have vacated their previous home ground, the Municipal Stadium in Rawalpindi for the Karachi Port Trust Stadium in Karachi due to the former ground having various issues with the pitch condition.[1] This stadium will also be used by KESC, NBL and KPT who previously used other grounds in the city.
