The 2007 Meteor Music Awards ceremony was held in the Point Theatre, Dublin on Thursday, 1 February 2007. It was the seventh[1] edition of Ireland's national music awards and the last to be held at the Point before it shut for redevelopment. The event was presented by television personalities Podge and Rodge and comedian Deirdre O'Kane, who donned a showgirl outfit to open the awards ceremony.[1] It was later broadcast on RTÉ Two on Sunday, 4 February at 21:00.[2]
Performances
There were performances on the night from Westlife with Ronan Keating, "The Dance", Kaiser Chiefs (who were first on stage), Director, The Pussycat Dolls, Amy Winehouse, The Feeling, The Blizzards and The Immediate.

Winners
Snow Patrol were the big winners at the 2007 awards.[3] They fought off competition from The Divine Comedy, The Frames and Humanzi to claim the Best Irish Band accolade. They won three other awards Best Live Performance, Best Irish Album (for Eyes Open) and the Most Downloaded Irish Song Award.
The first awards presented were Best Irish Male, Best Irish Female and Best Irish Pop Act.
Best Irish Male winner was Damien Dempsey, who beat other nominees David Kitt, Van Morrison, Mundy, Fionn Regan and Duke Special. He was presented with his award by Miss Ireland, Sarah Morrissey and comedian PJ Gallagher, star of television show Naked Camera. Best Irish Female winner was Luan Parle, who beat the likes of Moya Brennan and Eleanor McEvoy. She was presented with her award by the two stars of RTÉ "comedy" Dan & Becs. In her speech, she revealed it was also her birthday.
Westlife won the Best Irish Pop Act for the seventh year in a row, beating Best Irish Female winner Luan Parle.
Today FM's Ray D'Arcy won the Best DJ award for the third time in a row.
Director's acclaimed single "Reconnect" was largely responsible for them winning the Best New Irish Act accolade.
Dublin band Royseven won the Hope for 2007 Award.
Best International Band went to Scissor Sisters, whilst the Best International Album was won by Arctic Monkeys for Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.
2fm DJ Larry Gogan was presented with the Industry Award at the event. It was presented in recognition of the veteran's contribution to the Irish music scene and his support of up-and-coming acts.
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Clannad, who also performed on the night.
