The 1901 Penn State Nittany Lions football team represented the Pennsylvania State University in the 1901 college football season.[1] The team was coached by Pop Golden and played its home games in Beaver Field in University Park, Pennsylvania.

Despite the article title, the school did not adopt the Nittany Lion as its mascot until 1907.
