The Canadian Rugby Football Union was formed on October 21, 1882. The organization would eventually disband but would re-emerge as the Canadian Rugby Union in 1892. The season of 1882 opened on May 13 with the Brits and Montreal playing to a 0-0 tie. Next, in the fall on October 4, Britannia and RMC scored a goal but it was another 1-1 tie and the Brits were undefeated.
