1-877-JAIL-FON

1-877-JAIL-FON is a service phone number created by the Utah Highway Patrol that allows people to practice the "one phone call" from jail if arrested for a DUI (Driving Under the Influence of some substance that impairs driving ability). The Highway Safety Office hopes the number will get people to think about all the consequences of drinking and driving as well as open a dialogue between friends. It is an approach to get attention and help prevent drunk driving. The main focus is targeting that 21-30 age group that seems to have a problem with drinking and driving. A caller selects to speak with a choice of persons who are unhappy about the predicament, and is educated about DUI consequences in a humorous manner.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
